U.S. Ambassador Mr. Philip Reeker visits the UMC in Strumica

On March 24, 2010, the U.S. Ambassador Mr. Philip Reeker was received by the supervising pastor Mihail Cekov in Strumica. Together we first visited our church in Strumica, where Ambassador Reeker was told about the history of the church and about its activities. Then together we visited the Miss Stone Center [for humanitarian outreach], where Ambassador Reeker had the opportunity to become familiar with the work of the Center, especially the kitchen where food is prepared every day [Monday - Friday] for 110 recipients in our city.

OSCE representatives visit the United Methodist Church

On March 19, 2010 Mr. Peter Erhard and Mr. Christophe Hert from the OSCE were received in Strumica by Mihail Cekov, supervising pastor. In this visit, the representatives of the OSCE were informed about the work of the United Methodist Church in Macedonia, in conversation about church life and the needs of the church. They also visited the Miss Stone Center [for humanitarian outreach] where they became more closely acquainted with the activities of the church in the area of social outreach.

Humanitarian aid to schools for children with special needs

On January 25, Diaconia Macedonia [the humanitarian outreach organization of the UMC in Macedonia] visited Maca Ofcharova School for children with special needs in Veles [city]. Various clothing was given to the many children who come from very poor families; all the children received winter jackets.

Ecumenical services among Orthodox, Catholics, Methodists

Within the frame of ecumenical Christian prayer services that are traditionally held in January throughout the world, Orthodox Christians, Catholics and Methodists gathered together to worship at services which took place from January 24 to 26. Worship services were held alternately in the three churches. These worship services included sermons, songs and prayers on the theme "and you are witnesses for this." We rejoice to have such joint gatherings, but it will be useful for us all when interaction among the churches becomes more dynamic.

Visit to the Institute for Rehabilitation Banja Bansko

Today, January 6, 2010, as they do each year, the youth from the United Methodist Church in Strumica visited the patients at the Institute for Rehabilitation Banja Bansko. They gave them greetings for a Happy New Year and Merry Christmas, wishing them health, happiness and God’s blessing.

The youth presented a Christmas program, singing songs and at the same time including the patients in singing and rejoicing along with all of us.
